HEALTH AND SAFETYIllness: Your child’s health is a matter of major importance to all of us. A child may need to be sent home if he/she appears to have symptoms of illness during the day. (Symptoms can include: temperature greater than 100.4 degrees under the arm or 101 degrees under the tongue, diarrhea, eye discharge, constant cough, fussy or crankiness, vomiting, or symptoms of a communicable disease.) In such cases, the parent will be contacted. Parents must arrange for the child to be picked up within 25 minutes of the call, or the late pick up fees will apply. If a parent or their authorized person cannot be contacted because of inadequate information on the child’s emergency card, or if telephone answering machines or voice messaging does not produce a return call within a 15 minute contact time limit, the late pick-up fees will begin. Failure to comply will be cause for withdrawal. The late pick-up fees for a sick child will appear on you next billing statement. Please notify the Ark as soon as possible if your child will not be attending school that day. We do have voice messaging, so you may leave a message at any time. If your afterschooler will not be arriving on the bus, call the Ark office. After one warning, there will be a $5 fee charged if we have to track down your child. Parents may not bring sick children to school. Children who appear ill when they arrive will not be admitted. The following are Ark policies and are enforced regardless of notes from doctors stating that the child may return to school: EXPOSURE TO COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: The child may come to school if he/she has been exposed to a communicable disease. The school should be notified so that the incubation period can be determined and parents instructed about what days to keep the child home.
