City Wide Worship & Prayer

Annual Report January 5, 2006

To: Pastors, Participating Churches for City-Wide Worship and Prayer, Los Alamos, NM

From: Gail Diedrich, Founder and leader & New Mexico Transformational Prayer Council

City-Wide Worship and Prayer (CWW&P), an interdenominational lay-led weekly worship and prayer ministry, has been meeting on Thursdays, 11:30 am-1 pm on a "stop and go" basis at centrally located First United Methodist Church for almost three years. I've listed some highlights from 2005 for your information. Having been appointed to the New Mexico Tranformational Prayer Council, I write wearing two hats.

KCHF TV, Channel 11--Gloria Streit, CWW&P's worship leader, and I were interviewed Febrary 28 on Channel 11's "God Answers Prayer" program, which was aired live as well as several more times and then sent to Sky Angel and broadcast across the nations. Then on September 16, as Los Alamos prayer representatives, my husband and I were invited to host a table at Son Broadcasting's 21st Anniversary Dinner Benefiting their Digital Conversion held at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid Hotel. KCHF has been mandated to become fully digital by mid-summer 2006. As a result, tax deductible gifts are welcomed to be applied to their Digital Television Fund. Churches wanting to contribute to our local Christian television station can send their donations to Sun Broadcasting Network, P.O. Box 4338 or contact (505) 345-1991, www.kchf.com,, or email at kchf@kchf.com.

National Day of Prayer (NDP)--Jim and Sue Parks have been named as New Mexico State Coordinators for National Day of Prayer, which will be celebrated on May 4. I undestand this year's theme will be, "America Bless God" from I Samuel 2:30. Pastor Tom Kearns has done an excellent job enlisting the help of Los Alamos pastors and coordinating this event for the past few years. Thanks Tom--I'm assuming you or one of your pastor friends will head it up again this year. See www.nationaldayofprayer.org. Jim and Sue Parks can be reached at P.O. Box 5761, Santa Fe, NM 87502-5761, phone/fax (505) 471-6188, pottersclay@integrity.com.

Global Day of Prayer (GDOP)--Los Alamos Christians joined an estimated 200 million Christians around the world for prayer during the first-ever Global Day of Prayer, which began May 6 with 10 days of prayer focus and culminated on May 15. I've received an excellent 20-minute GDOP 2005 Report on DVD, which I've copied and will distribute to participating pastors. GDOP will be celebrated on June 4, 2006.

Rio Grande River Prayer Initiative--On June 11, I was asked to lead a team and participate with others strategically placed along 1900 miles of the Rio Grande River, beginning at the headwaters in Colorado and culminating in the Gulf of Mexico. Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, and Mexico participated in this divinely ordained time of strategic prayer for the healing of the land. Jean Steffanson; Dr. Jay Swallow; along with Jack Webb, United States Strategic Prayer Network and New Mexico State Coordinator, provided leadership and spiritual covering in addition to our individual pastors. Two Los Alamos teams of Anglo and Hispanic men and women from seven denominations participated. The Lord manifested Himself in a powerful way during this prayer initiative.

UNM-LA Bible Course--"Religion 103, Introduction to the Bible," a study of the Holy Bible in its historical and geographical context and its impact on our country's history, art, and literature has been approved as a 3-hr. college and 0.5 high school elective credit course to be taught at UNM-LA beginning this spring on Tuesdays, 6-8:30 pm. Los Alamos High School Juniors and Seniors, college students, adults, and home schoolers ages 16 and up are eligible to take the course. Tuition is free to LAHS students. Dr. Dave Petty, Glorieta, has been approved to teach the course. Lucille Bonner has labored faithfully and tirelessly for three years to get this course approved by the school system, and we pray that the Christian community will support this initiative by identifying and encouraging students to enroll in the class.

Steve Trullinger, The Father's Touch--CWW&P hosted Steve Trullinger as a special guest on November 2. Steve is a former Associate Professor at the University of Southern California who was obedient to the Lord when called to "give it all up" and go into full-time ministry in 1995. As a scientist and Ph.D., Steve consulted at LANL for ten years and has a heart for Los Alamos. Steve travels all over the world and is particularly gifted in healing prayer and the impartation of that anointing which he extended through prayer to the many attendees. Steve will return to Los Alamos January 20-24 and March 16-19 as speaker at an "Ignite the Fire in Los Alamos" Conference. Tom Steward is the contact.

Around the State--The New Mexico Transformational Prayer Council sponsored City-Reaching and Transformational Prayer meetings for Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Las Cruces pastors and ministerial leaders with Tom White, Frontline Ministries, on October 4-6 in three cities. Tom's worldwide ministry is focused on Unifying the Body of Christ and Advancing His Kingdom. CWW&P attendees and two participating pastors and their prayer coordinator attended the Santa Fe meeting.

In response to meeting with Tom, Albuquerque pastors agreed to unite interdenominationally for a Pastors' Prayer Summit March 20-22 (day and Night), at a retreat center to pray and seek the Lord for Albuquerque. Fifty pastors are expected to participate.

Taos pastors have also planned a spiritual leadership summit calle, "Advancing Christ's Kingdom in Taos County" with Tom March 23. Their agenda topics include, "Pursuing God's Presence, What the Holy Spirit is Saying to the Church in America, Responding in Prayer to the Word of the Lord, and Building the House of the Lord" with round tables titled, "Advancing Christ's Kingdom in Taos County and On the Road to Sustainable Transformation."

Las Cruces established interdenominational unity five years ago. Their exciting initiatives include establishing Lighthouses of Prayer, Pastor's Prayer Shields, month City-Wide Prayer meetings, City Impact Round tables, pastoral prayer at County Commissioner Meetings, Spiritual Mapping of the southwest region, as well as, serving the community in a number of additioanl ways.

Whole Ministries, a new Los Alamos para-church ministry connected to Rich Joiner's Morningstar Ministries, is led by Jeff and Bonita Eichorst. They are sponsoring a "River of Freedom" worship event in Farmington on March 25. On December 1, they began a weekly "School of the Spirit" in Los Alamos on Friday evenings.

The New Mexico Prayer Council is currently planning a "Healing the Land" conference in Albuquerque on Native American land during the summer. Potential Native American speakers include Dr. Jay Swallow, Negiel Bigpond, and Alistair Petrie, all of whom are knowledgeable about healing the land, reconciliation, and related issues.

Miscellaneous--CWW&P continues to serve Los Alamos pastors, churches, and the community by providing intimate worship and fellowship; prayer for contemporary local issues, the state, nation, and world; supporting para-church ministries in their local and state-wide endeavors; partnering across the state, nation, and world; praying for missionaries to the Philippines, Romania, Mexico, and Central Asia; praying for the sick and those in crisis; building up the saints; making and treaining disciples; building unity; reaching out to the unchurched; spreading the Gospel; identifying and developing giftedness, etc. We also devoted one day to President Bush's Proclamation that September 16 be a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
