“KINGDOM GREATNESS”
A BRIEF MESSAGE FOR ARK SUNDAY
GOSPEL SCRIPTURE TEXT:  MATTHEW 18:1-5

DAVE RING, PASTOR
LOS ALAMOS FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
SUNDAY MORNING, JANUARY 28, 2007

Gospel Lesson:  1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"  2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”

Message:

Larry Lacour’s Children’s Sermon story

Mark Twain’s wry wit regarding children

What is about a child that Jesus is recommending to His disciples?

  1. Childlike dependence
  2. Childlike openness
  3. Childlike excitement
  4. Childlike novelty

This church does a wonderful thing by ministering to children through the ARK.  Unfortunately, this church pays minimal attention to children in other ways.  This is a very good church in which to be an adult.  Let’s do more to make it a good church in which to be a child.  Our “Kingdom Greatness” will be thereby enhanced.
