"JOHN'S GOSPEL"
CHAPTER TEN
SUNDAY MORNING, MARCH 29, 2009
PASTOR DAVE RING
LOS ALAMOS 1ST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Today we continue a "sermonic study" of the Gospel of John. It's my intention to preach and teach us through John's Gospel, with only occasional interruptions, throughout the first half of 2009.

John 10:1-21 Sheep, Shepherds and the "Good" Shepherd

Legitimate shepherds vs. thieves and robbers
_______________________________________________________

The good shepherd is willing to give his all
_______________________________________________________

This includes the ultimate sacrifice of life itself
_______________________________________________________

John 10:22-42 Direct questions and uncompromising answers

"Yes, I am the Messiah" (or "Christ")
_______________________________________________________

Telling the truth results in a charge of blasphemy
_______________________________________________________

Haven't you seen the miracles? They're prima facie evidence
_______________________________________________________

Once more Jesus withdraws from Jerusalem - it's not yet his time
_______________________________________________________

Belief appears more common in rural settings
_______________________________________________________

We're going to take two weeks off from this series for Palm Sunday and Easter. We'll pick up with John 11 on Sunday, April 19th. Please continue to read and meditate upon the Gospel of John.
