PASTOR DAVE RING Beginning today and continuing for the following four weeks I'll be both preaching and teaching the letter of I John. (This is intended as a "follow up" to last year's January-to-June series of messages on the Gospel of John.) Some Preliminary Thoughts 1. Remembering who John was 2. Reviewing what John wrote in the New Testament 3. Recalling John's recurrent themes I John 1 Verse 1 - This is reminiscent of the Gospel of John, chapter 1 Verse 2 - Eternal life is the heart of the Christian proclamation Verse 3 - Desire to broadly extend the fellowship of the saints Verse 4 - Joy! Verse 5 - God is light and only light Verse 6 - Can't live in darkness while claiming to be children of light Verse 7 - The fellowship of the saints; the importance of Jesus' blood Verse 8 - We're all innately sinners Verse 9 - If we admit our failings, Jesus will accept and cleanse us from them Verse 10 - Those who claim righteousness without Jesus are kidding themselves Back to Church Sermons Table of Contents |
