God and Science: Origins |
|||||||||||||
|
How did the universe begin? These questions reach far down to our conception of who and what we are as humans. Faith gives us answers, and science gives us methods to seek answers. When those answers appear to conflict, the result may be public controversy or private doubt. But a growing number of Christians are re-discovering the essential harmony between their faith and science, and drawing inspiration from recent scientific research in many areas that clarifies the amazing nature of the Cosmos. Come and join us in a new class beginning in September, titled "God and Science: Origins", as we learn about new scientific discoveries and discuss our interpretations of what those discoveries mean, and how they can strengthen our faith in the God of the Bible. Learn why Christians should never fear the advance of science, but instead can use its results to witness to others. We'll cover a lot of territory, from cosmology and astrophysics through organic chemistry, molecular biology and paleontology, to archaeology, population genetics, and the human genome, with a little Hebrew thrown in. Classes/discussions will be led by Nels Hoffman, and will meet on Monday nights at 7 pm in the Mid-High Room. Back to Church Studies Table of Contents |
