Methodist Youth Fellowship

Methodist Youth Fellowship, abbreviated “MYF,” is a ministry primarily for youth entering 6th grade up through high school graduates.  MYF does hold events for college students and young adults of the typical college age, particularly in the summer time, and it supports college students throughout the school year by maintaining contact with students far and near.  The ministry also reaches out to elementary students through FUMC’s connection to the ARK Child Development Center and Vacation Bible School.         

Methodist Youth Fellowship’s primary goal is to introduce youth to the exciting experience of a relationship with Jesus Christ.  MYF seeks to help youth become disciples of Jesus by promoting and/or providing the following:

-    A healthy lifestyle through Christian learning and fellowship
-    Wholesome and God-honoring recreational and social experiences
-    Opportunities to share in service projects which reflect Christian concern for others
-    Worship experiences which are developmental to Christian discipleship 

Our Basic Structure

  • Weekly MYF -- unless otherwise noted, we meet Sundays at 4 PM in the senior high room.  Wide-open invitation (6th grade through HS).  On special occasions, youth younger than 6th grade and/or high school graduates are invited to participate.      
  • Revelation -- youth worship team, meets Sundays at 2:30PM in Sanctuary.  Participation by brief interview and audition with director. 
  • Special Events/Trips – often occur at a time other than Sunday at 4 PM and usually require RSVP in advance.  To accommodate for guests when at all possible, enough resources/transportation for 3 extra people beyond who responded to the RSVP will be reserved.           
  • Sunday school at 9:45 am
    • Junior high is led by Maurice Sheppard, Martha Zumbro, and Jana Beery (in Junior High Room)
    • High school is led by Valerie Collins and Travis Knapp (in Senior High Room)
